SEAL / Values for Life
At Model we have a strong, distinctive Christian ethos and encourage children to develop values of Courage, Forgiveness, Responsibility, Respect & Reverence, Perseverance, Friendship and Thankfulness.
Children learn these values through the teachings and stories that Jesus told.
Children have opportunities to think about and apply Christian values through religious education lessons, collective worship and as an integral part of our curriculum.
In addition we also follow SEAL which is a framework that offers opportuntiies to promote social and emotional literacy, supporting children with:
- their social awareness
- managing their feelings
- social interactions
The framework is divided into 7 themes that we deliver over the course of the year:
- New beginnings
- Getting on and falling out
- Say “no” to bullying
- Going for goals
- Good to be me
It is used as a whole-school, cross-curricular approach which aims to help children become successful learners, responsible citizens, and confident individuals. A whole school competition takes place for each theme with children's efforts being celebrated during assemblies and on wall displays in both halls.
